Group Dynamic

Knowledge

One of the most valuable aspects of a company’s participation as a member of the Group is the ability to benchmark with and learn from other companies as well as learn from other stakeholders the Group regularly interacts with. Because the Group’s membership covers every major industrial sector, there is a significant base of knowledge that is brought to bear on the Group’s general discussions among members and its specialty meetings and activities involving other stakeholders. In-house managers, scientific and legal staffs “in the trenches” on key NRDAR issues are able to interface with other companies having similar responsibility on a broad array of issues, from broad strategy to site-specific assessment and restoration approaches to experience with external practitioners and government. The Group also facilitates practice exchange communications with various experts in the field and with government. All told, an unbeatable knowledge base!

Experience

The Group and its Member Companies have unmatched experience in all aspects of the NRDAR process. In the EU, Member Companies are able to understand what effects the ELD may have on their company and on industry generally, in part because of their access to intimate knowledge of NRDAR processes and methodological approaches to assessment and restoration. The extensive but varying experience of fellow members allows companies to share their experiences, and provides them with a frame of reference that is useful relative to their own unique situations.  The Group also partners with dozens of the world’s most experienced NRDAR practitioners in the development of materials and intense practice discussions. There are significant opportunities to pinpoint what is working and what needs improvement and how to approach specific issues in actual practice in order to avoid problems and facilitate restoration.

Resources

The Group has amassed what is likely the most comprehensive NRDAR data set in existence, including a unique comparative database of case and site data, assessments, restoration projects, settlements and other information. In the EU, the Group is tracking and providing to its members current information about EU Member States’ transposition and implementation of the ELD and associated issues.  The Group also has an extensive library of over 2,000 books, articles and other legal, technical and economic documents concerning all aspects of NRDAR and the EU ELD (exclusive of case and site-specific materials) as well as information on key NRDAR and ELD meetings and conferences.

Solutions

The Group and its Member Companies are on the cutting edge of policy and practice developments worldwide and how the state of the art can be applied to site-specific solutions. Companies have immediate access to materials and discussions on how others are dealing with policy and practice initiatives, and how to work to ensure the best possible results for company bottom lines, affected natural resources and communities.
